#Ethiopia: Armed rebels kill 27 security forces and injured 10 others in West #Oromia
27 security forces were killed and 10 others were injured in the Horo Guduru zone of Oromia Regional State yesterday. The attack took place in Akayu woreda of Jargeda Jarte woreda where security forces were deployed to the area in search of alleged OLA militants.
The armed rebels launched the onslaught at 5 AM in the morning according to local militias who explained that there were 120 gunmen on the scene. The attackers were armed with heavy weapons, including 19 BREL and 12 snipers.
The administrator of the woreda said that the armed rebels may have been tipped off about the deployment of security forces beforehand. He also said that one of the assailants were killed and ‘many’ were injured.
The residents of Jargeda Jarte woreda expressed their concerns about the security situation following the attack on the security forces.
