Merara Gudina has always been top-of-the-line when it comes to one thing: being happily ineffective and offering legitimacy to an authoritarian order. What kind of self-respecting party or leader participates in a charade just a month after core members of his party are arrested in a politically motivated attack.
A politician of absolutely no consequence, he has been leading that party for more than 25 or so years. A lot has changed in the last quarter century. His party has changed. Memberships changed. The one thing that never change is him. He has always been there, as an ineffective leader. A statue.
